Two Massive Gold Nuggets Discovered in Australia

Imagine digging away at dry earth day after day and finally uncovering two massive nuggets of gold.
That’s exactly what’s happened to two men in Australia. The brothers-in-law dug up a total weight of 7.7 pounds’ (3.4 kg) worth of gold, which could have an estimated worth of 250,000 USD, per the 7News Sunrise talk show.

The pair are brothers-in-law, Brent Shannon and Ethan West, and had specifically gone to the site to try and dig up some gold along with West’s father, Paul West.
The area “was in a bit of a virgin ground, which means it’s untouched and hasn’t been mined,” explained Shannon to 7News Sunrise.
The two nuggets were discovered on the same day close to Tarnagulla in the state of Victoria, in a region that’s known historically for its gold fields.

It wasn’t all smooth sailing, though. The men had to be patient as they said they had to wait months just to obtain a permit to allow them to mine for gold on the land. They have been searching and finding gold in the area for four years now, but nothing as big as these two juicy nuggets.

“These are definitely one of the most significant finds,” West said. “To have two large chunks in one day is quite amazing.”
Experts have stated that the nuggets could bring home 30% more if sold to a collector.
